First half supermarket sales reach record

Dutch supermarket sales rose 7.7% over the first six months of 2008, according to figures from research bureau GfK.

Sales rose from €13.87bn to €14.93bn, due to higher food prices and the Euro 2008 football championship. Full year figures will be higher than €30bn, GfK said.
