‘Fewer traffic jams at weekend’
The number of traffic jams fell by 3% in the second quarter of this year compared to the same 2007 period, according to a report by the traffic information service VID on Friday.
The roads are less busy during the weekends, says the organisation which believes the reduction is the result of higher fuel prices.
However the motoring association ANWB is sceptical, saying that other factors such as the weather, road works and the timing of holidays could play a role.
The ANWB said traffic on working days has gone up 6% over the last six months.
Both organisations said the A2 motorway is the most congested in the country.
