Dutch woman dies of Marburg fever

A Dutch tourist who visited Uganda has died of the highly-infectious Marburg fever, the environmental health institute RIVM announced on Friday.

The woman, who was treated in intensive care at Leiden University’s teaching hospital, was probably infected after coming in contact with a bat while visiting caves.
Everyone who has been in contact with the woman is now being tested for signs of the disease, which include a high temperature, severe vomiting and blood loss.
