Civil servants better off on bikes
The country’s 123,000 national government civil servants are better off if they cycle rather than drive to work, the Volkskrant reports on Thursday.
From July 1, civil servants have had a maximum cycling allowance of €282 a month. But the car allowance is just €45, the paper says. A civil servant who cycles 10 km a day to and from work is €60 a month better off than one who drives.
