ASML revises down full-year sales

Chip machinery maker ASML said on Wednesday its full-year sales may be down 20% on 2007. Three months ago, ASML said turnover could be down 10% on last year’s record €3.8bn.


The company said on Wednesday it had received orders for 33 new machines in the second quarter, seven more than in the previous quarter, and had contracts valued at a total €1.1bn in the pipeline.
Second quarter sales reached €844m, compared with €919m in the first quarter. Net profit reached €192m, due to a €70m tax windfall.
