Van Persie trains with Dutch squad
Arsenal striker Robin van Persie trained with the rest of the Dutch Euro 2008 squad on Wednesday as his recovery from a thigh muscle injury continues.
‘We will see how it goes over the next few days, then we will take a decision,’ coach Marco van Basten said. ‘Physically he is in good shape. Now we need to get the old Robin back.’
The Dutch team trained for some 90 minutes at the Stade Olympique in Lausanne on Wednesday morning where the artificial pitch has been replaced by grass for the occasion.
‘The grass is great, I am extremely grateful to them,’ Van Basten told news agency ANP.
In other Euro 2008 news: football fanatics who worry that they might have to cancel their holidays if the Netherlands reaches the final can now take out football-related insurance to pay for their lost vacation.
And rental housing company Estates Europe has withdrawn a threat to evict a 78-year-old man who has totally covered his home with orange decorations. It can stay until after the championship is over, the Rotterdam company said.
