The transport sector and ministers are holding talks on how to deal with soaring petrol prices on Thursday but truckers groups said they were not optimistic about the outcome.

The freight sector is furious at the three cent increase in fuel taxes due to come into effect on July 1 and have staged a number of motorway go-slows in an effort to get the increase postponed.
