Some 300,000 must repay rent subsidy
Some 300,000 people will have to repay some of the income-related rent subsidies they were paid for 2006, the housing ministry said on Friday.
The repayment will average €600, but some 70,000 households will have to repay more than €1,000. The overpayments – totalling €172m – were made largely because the subsidy is paid in advance and people did not know their exact salaries.
