Smoking ban will slash heart attacks

The ban on smoking in bars and cafes, which comes into effect on July 1, will reduce the number of heart attacks in Holland by 40%, says the health and environment institute RIVM.

Some 22,000 people die from the effect of smoking in the Netherlands every year, half of whom have cancer, the other half heart and circulation problems, the RIVM says in today’s AD.
