Romanian, Bulgarian border may stay shut

A majority of MPs are opposed to plans to open the Dutch borders to people from Romania and Bulgaria on January 1 2009, NOS tv reports on Wednesday.

Social affairs minister Piet Hein Donner is due to make his position clear in October.
NOS says in general MPs feel there are too many problems associated with the Polish nationals already here, and that their number has been underestimated. In particular, finding suitable housing is difficult, NOS says.
