The cabinet has set aside €2.7bn to make sure that all nursing home residents have the right to a room of their own, the AD reports on Thursday.

At the moment, some 13,000 frail elderly patients have to share rooms and couples are often separated, the paper says. The money will be used to rebuild and divide rooms into smaller spaces.
