Kees Fens, literary critic of the Volkskrant for nearly 40 years, died on Saturday. He was 78-years-old and had been suffering from lung disease for several years.
Fens was awarded the prestigious P.C. Hooft Prize in 1990 and an honorary doctorate from Amsterdam university in 2004 and was given a knighthood in 2007. He will be buried on Friday.
