Intimacy therapy was ‘fantastic experiment’

The ‘intimacy therapy’ 10 convicted sex offenders underwent while in psychiatric hospital was ‘a fantastic experiment’ which had the full backing of the authorities, Jos Poelmann, director of the Pompe clinic, says in today’s Volkskrant.

One man, aged 30, has made a formal complaint about the treatment, which he underwent between 1995 and 1998.
The therapy only involved touching and focused on a small group of men whose experience with women was limited to rape, Poelmann said. It also proved effective in limiting reoffending.
