The annual rate of inflation will exceed 3% in the third quarter of this year, central bank president Nout Wellink told MPs on Wednesday. Next year, the inflation rate will reach 3.4%, Wellink said.

He said the increase in value-added tax (btw), the introduction of new taxes on motoring and air travel and higher property rents will all drive up inflation.
