Holland threatens to withdraw funding Afghanistan
Aid minister Bert Koenders has threatened to withdraw the €15m he has allocated Afghanistan for the reform of its judicial sector if the country does not come up with a plan within two months, reports ANP news service.
The ultimatum was made at the international donor conference for the reconstruction of Afghanistan in Paris on Thursday. The Netherlands did not made any new promises of aid on top of the €210m over three years it has already agreed to.
But Koenders also warned that this too is subject to certain pre-conditions such as a more rigorous anti-corruption policy and the scrapping of the death sentence.
