Euro 2008: Cruijff praises Dutch squad

Holland’s football players and coaches deserve an ‘enormous compliment’ for putting Dutch football back on the map at Euro 2008, former international turned tv pundit Johan Cruijff said on Monday.

‘Hopefully they will learn from their mistakes and be even stronger at the World Cup in South Africa,’ he said in today’s Telegraaf.
Cruijff, who is known for his sharp criticism, also praised coach Marco van Basten for making a team out of so many headstrong young men. ‘That is one of the most difficult jobs facing a coach,’ he said.
