Chinese ban bitterballen from Olympics

The Chinese authorities have banned the import of traditional Dutch deep fried rissoles known as bitterballen during the Olympics, the Telegraaf reports on Tuesday.


The rissoles were destined for the Heineken House – the Dutch-style cafe for fans and athletes. However, they contain Brazilian meat, which the Chinese ban. Producer Van Dobben is now considering setting up a temporary production line in China.
