Asylum procedure to be tightened up
Procedures for claiming asylum in the Netherlands are to be shaken up, the Telegraaf reports on Tuesday.
The current initial assessment period is to be extended from five to eight working days to allow officials to conduct more thorough background checks, the paper says.
Asylum seekers will also face medical checks upon their arrival in the Netherlands. Junior justice minister Nebahat Albayrak is due to announce the new measures later today.
