Protests over Texel ferry outsource plan

People living on the Wadden Sea island of Texel are being urged to hold a beach demonstration today in protest at cabinet plans to put ferry services to the island out to tender.

The local tourist board director Wouter de Waal says the islanders have nothing to gain from a new service based on making a profit. The current ferry service is provided by Teso, a company owned by the islanders themselves.
