The trial of two brothers charged with running an international prostitution ring based on trafficking in women opens in Almelo today.
Hasan (43) and Saban (37) Baran are alleged to have forced dozens of women into prostitution in the Netherlands, Belgium and Germany, using threats and violence.
According to news agency ANP, the brothers are also suspected of forcing women who became pregnant into having abortions and tattooing victims to show they were their personal property.
The case is expected to take at least 15 days and a verdict is due on July 11.
