MPs rescue Texel ferry service
MPs have rejected cabinet plans to award the contract to ferry people between Den Helder and the Wadden Sea island of Texel to the highest bidder, the Telegraaf reports on Monday.
The service has been operated by Teso, a company owned by the islanders themselves, for 100 years. The paper says ferry services to four other islands will be put out to tender on 15-year contracts.
