More action urged to help whistleblowers

MPs have urged home affairs minister Guusje ter Horst to come up with measures to protect corporate whistleblowers, the Financieele Dagblad reports on Thursday.

The minister has already taken steps to improve the position of civil service whistleblowers.
Ter Horst warned MPs not to expect too much from an area which she has no direct control over. ‘You will understand that the pace of progress in an area which I am not directly responsible for will be slower,’ the paper reported her as saying.
Ter Horst said she would discuss the issue with Alexander Rinnooy Kan, chairman of the SER advisory body as well as the social affairs and economic affairs ministers.
