The vehicle registration service RDW is trying to track down the owners of 270,000 cars which exist on paper but do not appear to have an owner, the Telegraaf reports on Tuesday.
The cars, all built before 1995, have not been taxed, insured or given their annual APK service for the past 13 years, the paper says.
The RDW is now writing to the last known owners of the cars to find out if they still own the vehicle or if it has been sold or destroyed.
