Half of firms find it hard to get staff

Around half of Dutch companies and organisations are having trouble finding the right personnel, according to research by staffing agency Randstad on Wednesday.

And 80% of respondents expect the situation to worsen over the coming years, says the agency. Industry and healthcare are having the most difficulty in finding staff.
Meanwhile, national statistics agency CBS says the number of job vacancies dropped by 7,000 in the first three months of 2008, particularly in banking. But jobs in healthcare, education and public management are still plentiful.
