Dutch start-ups shoot up
The number of start-up businesses in the Netherlands rose sharply in 2007 to 102,000 compared with 91.000 in 2006, according to figures released on Monday by the chamber of commerce.
The biggest growth was in the service sector, particularly medical services, home helps and child care, says the organisation.
In the rest of Europe, there was notable growth in start-ups in Bulgaria (1,590, up 750%) and Romania (520, up 400%).
