Bus strikes may hit school exams
School pupils and teachers organisations are furious that striking regional bus drivers plan to take legal action during the school final exam period, which begins on May 19.
Unions are demanding a 3.5% pay rise this year. Employers are offering 11.5% spread over three years and a longer working week for new drivers.
A union spokesman said if public-friendly action did not work, it was time to get tough. ‘We would rather not do this, but the responsibility lies with the employers,’ an FNV spokesman told news agency ANP.
