Bus strikes continue

Regional bus services are being severely disrupted again today as drivers go on strike in support of a 3.5% pay claim and longer paid breaks.

Services across the country are affected between 9 am and 4 pm and from 7 pm until the last buses. In the early morning and during the afternoon rush hours buses will run but passengers will travel free of charge.
The unions chose this combination of strike and ‘customer friendly’ action under pressure from school pupils union LAKS because pupils need to get to school during the exam period which began on Monday.
The strike will continue through Wednesday and Thursday if no agreement can be reached between the unions and the bus companies. A 48-hour strike is planned for next week.
