Baggage strike ends at Schiphol airport

Unions at aviation services group Menzies called off their industrial action after reaching agreement on a new pay deal on Sunday morning.

The indefinite strike in support of a better rise began on Friday, causing delays to some flights and longer waiting times for baggage.
The new deal gives Menzies 500 workers a structural rise of 6% over 20 months and a one-off increase of 0.4%.
‘This is a real victory for the workers,’ said FNV Bondgenoten official Marjolein Dubbelaar.
The company had first offered a 1.5% rise for this year. The unions demanded 3.5%, saying Menzies had the worst pay rates of all five aviation service groups at Schiphol.
