Dutch soldiers kept three Afghan prisoners naked and in the rain in January this year, the NRC reports on Friday.
The paper says a lawyer with the Dutch forces at their Kamp Holland base intervened after he felt one of the men had been outside for too long.
The report is based on government documents which the NRC obtained under freedom of information legislation.
None of the men became ill but military chiefs described the incident as ‘unacceptable’. The rules have since been tightened up to prevent a similar event, the paper says.
