PSV Eindhoven only managed a 1-1 draw against FC Twente on Sunday. A win would have confirmed the Eindhoven football team as the premier league champions.
As it is PSV only need one point from their last game next week to win the championship, which would be their fourth in a row.
Some 43 fans were arrested after the match when riot police were brought in to restore order.
Second-placed Ajax of Amsterdam, whose match against FC Groningen on Sunday was postponed because of a fire in Groningen’s stadion, will have to win both games and PSV lose their last match to steal the title from the Eindhoven club.
Rotterdam club Feyenoord’s heavy 3-1 defeat away to relegation candidate Willem II of Tilburg could have cost them a place in the play-offs for the Champions League. Both FC Twente and SC Heerenveen are better placed than Feyenoord.
