Postal strike starts in The Hague
TNT postal workers start their industrial action for higher wages today with a strike by hundreds of delivery staff in The Hague.
According to the AbvaKabo union 80% of the 500 employees in the city failed to turn up for work, reports ANP news service.
On Friday TNT delivery staff in Amsterdam will go on strike.
Negotiations between TNT and the unions were abandoned earlier this month. The unions want a 3.5% rise as from 1 April this year but the employers are only prepared to offer 1.5% now and 1.5% in April 2009.
