No concrete terror threat in Holland

The Dutch secret service AIVD did not identify any concrete terrorist threats in the Netherlands last year, but warns in its 2007 report that recruitment for the ‘classic battlegrounds’ such as Iraq and Afghanistan among western Islamic extremists will increase.

However, the AIVD was not aware as yet that any locals had travelled to such countries to fight or train, the report said.
On the home front, the Netherlands does not have ‘proper leadership figures’ to stimulate an armed struggle against non-believers, and Dutch radical Muslim groups are often highly divided, the AIVD said.
