More people on low pay
The number of workers on minimum pay has gone up from 600,000 in 1979 to 1,250,000 now, according to Amsterdam University researchers.
The main reasons are the increase in women, students and school pupils taking on part-time jobs, and the effective reduction in minimum pay rates, the researchers said.
