Health cost tax break scrapped

The government is to scrap a tax break which allows some three million people to deduct indirect medical expenses from tax, the NRC reports, quoting cabinet sources.

Among the costs that will no longer be refunded are help with special diets or paying for glasses.
However people with a chronic condition or handicap will get between €100 and €400 a year extra to pay their additional health-related costs, the paper says.
