The forestry commission announced on Tuesday that it would like to release wolves, wild boar and European bison into the Oostvaardersplassen nature reserve in Flevoland.
According to ecologist Frans Vera in the Volkskrant, wolves belong in the area and cannot be reintroduced quickly enough. ‘I don’t expect it to happen in the short-term,’ he told the paper. ‘Fairy tales have given the wolf a bad reputation.’
