Fewer young people are long-term jobless

The number of long-term unemployed among the young and middle-aged fell sharply in 2007 to 144,000 compared with 184,000 in 2006, according to new figures from the national statistics agency CBS.


The figures for those aged between 55 and 65 rose slightly, with 39,000 people unemployed for longer than a year and 25,000 for more than two years.
