Extra traffic lane opens three years late
An extra lane on the A1 motorway between Amersfoort and traffic black spot Hoevelaken was opened to cars on Tuesday, three years after it was completed.
The council of state said the transport ministry had wrongly interpreted its legal ruling on the extra lane. Rather than ordering it closed, the court said a maximum speed limit of 80kph should be imposed.
