Energy exchange goes for cross-border gas

The Anglo-Dutch energy exchange APX is to launch a trading platform for cross-border gas transport on a trial basis from May 14 the company announced on Monday.

This will allow gas traders to make short-term deals for the delivery of gas and could lower gas prices, said APX. At present cross-border gas deliveries are almost exclusively limited to long-term contracts because of the difficulty in getting transport capacity.
APX CEO Bert den Ouden describes the trial as a ‘milestone in the development of a transparent and liquid European gas market,’ in today’s Financieele Dagblad.
