Crime boss to appear in court

One of the most notorious leaders of the Dutch criminal underworld, Jesse Remmers, is to appear in court for the first time today charged with at least six murders, reports ANP news service.

Remmers is one of six men appearing in front of judges in Amsterdam in a preliminary hearing of an investigation codenamed Passage. The public prosecution service hopes that the trial itself can begin in September.
According to an unnamed witness quoted in today’s Volkskrant, Remmers is a merciless hit man without a conscience. ‘Jesse is someone who shoots someone dead and then goes and eats a plate of chips,’ the witness is alleged to have told police.
