Credit crisis to hit Holland next year
The US economic slowdown will have an effect on the Dutch economy next year, or towards the end of the second half of this year, central bank president Nout Wellink said on Thursday.
Speaking at the publication of the bank’s annual report, Wellink said the ‘turbulence on the financial markets would feed through into Europe’.
The bank did not make any new growth forecasts beyond December’s estimate of 2%.
However, the NRC said Wellink warned that inflation would rise and growth would fall ‘very sharply’, making high wage demands a ‘concern’.
