Cabinet firm on spending power
The cabinet does not plan to compensate households for rising inflation, social affairs minister Piet Hein Donner is reported as saying by the Telegraaf on Tuesday.
Inflation is currently 2.2%, slightly higher than forecast and is set to reach 2.5% later this year. The increase is due to higher energy costs and wage rises, the paper quotes Donner as saying.
