Bonnet airbags would save cyclists

The lives of 60 cyclists a year would be saved if all the seven million cars in the Netherlands had an airbag on their bonnets, according to research by the TNO scientific research institution, reports Wednesday’s Volkskrant.

The TNO carried out 12,000 simulated accidents and concluded that as well as saving lives, severe head injuries to cyclists would be reduced by 75% if cars all had external airbags.
