Veldhuis sets new record in 50m freestyle

Marleen Veldhuis won her third gold medal of the European swimming championships in Eindhoven on Monday in world record time.


Velhuis took the 50 metres freestyle in 24.09 seconds, beating the old record of 24.13 set by Inge de Bruijn in 2000. In total, six world records were set at the event, which ended yesterday.
