Van Marwijk is new national football coach

Bert van Marwijk, manager of Feyenoord, will leave the Rotterdam-based soccer club to become the new national team coach when Marco van Basten steps down after the European Championships in June, the Dutch football association confirmed on Monday.

The appointment comes as no surprise as the organisation has been openly negotiating with Van Marwijk for the past few weeks.
Van Marwijk (55), a former professional footballer, has been contracted to manage Holland up to and including the next World Cup in 2010 in South Africa.
