Single mums free from job applications
Single mothers with children under the age of five will not have to make regular job applications to qualify for welfare benefits, junior social affairs minister Ahmed Aboutaleb told MPs on Thursday evening.
Instead Aboutaleb plans to introduce a training requirement. Some 70% of single mothers on benefits have very low-level qualifications, he said.
‘Without training they will drift from cleaning job to cleaning job on rock bottom rates of pay,’ he added.
