Secret political donations face scrutiny
Home affairs minister Guusje ter Horst is to introduce legislation requiring so-called political movements, such as Geert Wilders PVV and Rita Verdonk’s Trots op Nederland to make their funding public.
Currently, only political parties have to reveal their backers. Both Wilders and Verdonk raise their funding through foundations and are exempt.
Ter Horst also wants to lower the threshold for publication from €4,500 to €3,000 and to include private as well as corporate gifts.
