Dutch well informed on Islam, poll
The Dutch believe they are well-informed about Islam, according to Maurice de Hond survey published on Thursday.
At least 98% know that Muslims celebrate the Suikerfeest (festival of sweets) at the end of the annual Ramadan fast and more than 70% are aware that Friday is the Muslim holy day.
Supporters of Geert Wilders’ anti-immigrant PVV party knew the answers to the survey’s questions, though some had trouble with Christianity: 15% think Protestantism began when William of Orange dissociated himself from Catholicism.
