Dutch snowboarder poised to win world cup

Dutch snowboarder Nicolien Sauerbreij won the world cup in the parallel giant slalom on Sunday in Stoneham, Canada.

With one run still to go, the 28-year-old Amsterdammer is more than 1,000 points ahead of her closest rival and cannot be beaten.
Sauerbreij also has the chance to become the first Dutch snowboarder to win the overall world cup on March 15 in Valmalenco, Italy. She currently has 7,900 points, 1,750 more than the Austrian Doris Günther in second place.
