Air France-KLM to bid for Alitalia

Air France-KLM has been given permission by its management board to make a conditional offer for the Italian airline Alitalia. The offer will be made on Friday and is dependent on a number of conditions including the support of the trade unions, reports Tuesday’s Financieele Dagblad.

Alitalia currently loses €1m a day, says the paper, and relies on support from the Italian government which holds nearly half the shares.
Air France-KLM is particularly interested in the lucrative landing rights in Italy.
