‘Thousand jobs to go at Reed Elsevier’

Dutch-British publishing group Reed Elsevier is planning to scrap a thousand jobs in a cost cutting exercise, according to the UK newspaper Sunday Telegraph.

The paper says most of the job cuts will be outside the UK in support functions such as personnel and IT.
Reed Elsevier, which is listed in London and Amsterdam, has a worldwide workforce of 37,000, says news agency ANP.
The company declined to comment on the reports ahead of its 2007 earnings presentation on Thursday.
